Your bonds, explained.
A bond on a platform, a public NCD issue, or the bonds in your demat account: what it really earns at the price paid, what's left after tax, how safe it is, what a rate move does to its price, and whether you can get out early, worked out by code from your own documents.
NCDs and corporate, PSU and bank bonds; G-Secs, state bonds and T-bills; Sovereign Gold Bonds; tax-free, 54EC and RBI Floating Rate Savings Bonds.
You do
a few minutes- 1.Find the document
The step-by-step guide below shows where, for each kind of bond. - 2.Upload it here
A PDF, or a screenshot of the offer page. Several documents can go in one check. - 3.Answer two questions
Your tax slab, for the yield after tax; and for gold bonds, today's gold price.
You get
one report per check- The real yield at the price paid or asked, not just the coupon
- The yield after tax at your slab, beside an FD
- What the rating, security and seniority mean
- What a rate rise or fall does to the price
- Each payment date and amount, and the next 12 months' interest
- Tax and TDS on the interest, and tax if sold
- A public issue's series side by side
- Gold bond, 54EC and RBI savings bond dates and rules
We never
- Log in anywhere for you, or ask for an OTP
- Store a PDF password
- Copy your PAN, demat or bank details
- Tell you what to buy, sell or hold
A bond, at a glance.
What to upload, step by step.
Pick what you have. Each one says where to get the document, how to save it, and what must be readable. Myra reads only what you upload; it never signs in anywhere for you.
A bond on a bond platform or broker app
Before buying- 1.Open the bond's page in the app or on the website.
- 2.Save it as a PDF: on a computer, use the browser's Print → Save as PDF. On a phone, take screenshots instead, scrolling so every part below is covered (2–4 screenshots is normal).
- 3.If the page has a Documents tab, also download the term sheet or key information document (a PDF).
- 4.Upload the screenshots and the PDF together, in one check.
Must be readable
- Bond name, issuer and ISIN
- Price and the yield shown
- Coupon and how often it's paid
- Maturity date, and any call date
- Rating, and whether it's secured
If something isn't found, Myra says exactly what's missing and asks for it.
How uploading works
PDF, JPG or PNG, up to 15 MB each; up to 5 files at once and 8 in one check. Sign in first, then drop the files on the upload card at the top of this page. More can be added to the same check later.
Good screenshots
Whole screen, not cropped; the bond's name or ISIN visible in at least one of them; text sharp enough to read. Several screenshots of one bond go in the same check.
Password-protected PDFs
Statements from NSDL, CDSL and some brokers are locked. Upload them as they are; Myra asks for the password once, opens the file and forgets it. Never send an OTP or a login.
The coupon isn't what you earn.
Move the price: the yield to maturity counts what you pay, the accrued interest and when each payment arrives. Free, no sign-in.
| Date | What | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| 28 Mar 2027 | Interest | ₹975 |
| 28 Mar 2028 | Interest | ₹975 |
| 28 Mar 2029 | Interest | ₹975 |
| 28 Mar 2029 | Maturity (face value and last coupon) | ₹10,000 |
| In all | ₹12,925 | |
Eight checks, one report.
Each one runs only when your documents support it, cites the line it used, and says what's still to confirm.
What's left at your slab.
Move your slab and an FD rate: each bond's yield after tax beside the FD's. Numbers, not a recommendation.
Narmada Infrastructure Finance 8.30% Tax-Free Bond 2027: a taxable bond would need about 9.47% to leave as much at your slab.
Every series, side by side.
Monthly, yearly or cumulative, three years or five: what the same amount earns in each, on one yield.
| Series | Interest | Years | Effective yield | Interest a year | All interest | Back in all |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Series I | 9.40% monthly | 3 | 9.81% | ₹9,400 | ₹28,200 | ₹1,28,200 |
| Series II | 9.80% annual | 3 | 9.79% | ₹9,800 | ₹29,400 | ₹1,29,400 |
| Series III | 10.10% annual | 5 | 10.09% | ₹10,100 | ₹50,500 | ₹1,50,500 |
| Series IV | 10.10% at maturity | 5 | 10.10% | — | ₹61,827 | ₹1,61,827 |
100 bonds of ₹1,000 each. A longer series earns more in all partly because the money is lent for longer; regular interest suits income, cumulative suits growing the money.
Rules, not search results.
The income-tax rules applied by the date interest is paid or a bond sold, and SEBI's and RBI's rules for each kind of bond. Myra never calls a figure wrong without saying which rule and which line of your documents it used.
| Area | What Myra checks |
|---|---|
| Interest | Taxed at your slab in the year it's paid (a cumulative series: at maturity). Tax-free bonds' interest isn't taxed. |
| TDS | 10% on interest above ₹10,000 a year from one issuer (from Apr 2025; ₹5,000 before), listed debentures included since Apr 2023. None on G-Secs, state bonds, T-bills or gold bonds. |
| Selling | Listed bonds held more than 12 months: 12.5% on the gain, without indexation; sooner, at your slab. Unlisted bonds and market-linked debentures: at your slab however long held (sales from 23 Jul 2024). |
| Gold bonds | 2.5% a year on the issue price, taxed at the slab; 8 years, with RBI's early exit windows from the fifth year. From 1 Apr 2026 the gain is tax-free only at maturity, for bonds subscribed at the original issue and held throughout; bought on the exchange, redeemed early or sold, it's taxed as a capital gain. No new issues since February 2024. |
| 54EC bonds | Long-term gains on land or a building aren't taxed to the extent invested within 6 months, up to ₹50 lakh across the year of sale and the next; locked in 5 years; their interest is taxed. |
| RBI Floating Rate Savings Bonds | The NSC rate + 0.35%, reset each January and July (8.05% for Jul–Dec 2026), taxed at the slab; 7 years; early exit only for senior citizens after 4–6 years by age, giving up half of the last six months' interest. |
| Public NCD issues | Usually a retail category for applications up to ₹10 lakh, listing within 3 working days of closing, and secured NCDs backed by assets covering at least 100% of what's owed, held by a debenture trustee (SEBI's rules, amended January 2026). The prospectus says what applies to each issue. |
| Ratings | BBB- and above is investment grade. Ratings can change; the agency's rationale explains why. |
| Complaints | The issuer or the debenture trustee first; then SEBI's SCORES portal after 21 days, and online dispute resolution. |
Questions bond buyers actually ask.
Answered from your documents, with the line, the calculation and what's still unconfirmed. Myra explains; it doesn't tell you what to buy or sell.
